Most countries have started culling of pigs which is unnecessary.

Swine influenza is contagious but the rate at which it spreads is not yet determined. The symptoms include flu, high temperature, cough, sore throat, body ache, head ache, fatigue and some even report of vomiting and diarrhea. The virus spreads from the coughing or sneezing by people affected with the flu. It also spreads by touching any place affected by the virus and then when made contact with nose or mouth. It is declared that Swine influenza will not be infected by eating pork or pork related food items. The symptoms can take up to 1 day to show that one has been affected and it may also take up to 7 days for the evidence. There is more probability for the affected person to spread the contagious virus before he comes to know that he is affected.

Once when a person develops such symptoms, he must rush in to the near by hospital and oseltamivir or zanamivir are recommended for the treatment.
